A Fun Way to Handle It

When it comes to materiality, I find it quite challenging to pursue the right material for the right task. And that is why I need to 'dig in', read more and work hard to find some spectacular traits for me to choose one material over the other. It is not boring at all as some of you might think, however, it is tiring if you do the research properly. So far, I have completed reading Concrete Design by Sarah Gaventa and at the moment I am reading some sections of Materials For Architectural Design along with Internet research [course].

Below you see some images of concrete vertical circulation which I consider sexy, bold and sharp and since vertical circulations are key features in my building, I am having few diagrams to prove that. Here is one..

"Gómez Pimienta explains: 'I chose to use concrete because it is a wonderful material soft, monolithic, and very sensuous and it is apparent how it is made, so there is a handmade aspect to it. A little bit like watercolour, it shows every mistake and allows for no corrections. Concrete is simultaneously very industrial and very handmade; it has the solidity of stone and at the same time the poetry of once having been liquid.' " [Concrete Design, Sarah Gaventa]
