Smets

So recently I've discovered one of the top shops in Brussels, that is Smets. A store with a lounge bounded by special and exclusive designed furniture and high quality clothing brands including Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana and Fendi em ya Smets..

In a spacious gallery, makeup stations for Bobbi Brown, By Terry and O.P.I are placed to the right side of the main entrance while the shoes exhibit on the opposite side.
Jewellery displays were straight ahead and towards the end men wear, special designed products and exclusive furniture are placed.

The vertical circulation opposes the cashiers counter and were the staircase carries us to a whole new level for women-wear and a medium sized lounge. The journey gets more blissful with the pop-up black taped bamboo canopy spread over the women collection for Kenzo special upcoming ceremony.

Of Old+New Architecture in Brugge

Hello there,

This past week I had an adventurous journey exploring few cities in Belgium while accompanying my friends. What is special about being an expat here in Belgium, is the ability to enjoy the same place despite how many times you have been to. One seems to have a better view and a better understanding every time..

I share with you some of my snaps of co-existence, of old+new architecture in Brugge.

Draw Until the Idea is Clear

José Vasconcelos Library [the Megalibrary], Alberto Kalach
Kalach, the Mexican architect, says: "Drawing is the language that explains architectural ideas, I draw and draw until the idea is clear."

The drawing shown upwards depicts conceptualisation and processing ideas of the Mexican Megalibrary.

This Saturday: MCR Central Library

Foyer overlooking café, archives, media and performance spaces

My weekend is that part of  the week that is partially unplanned. On Saturdays I tend to work with whatever is thrown at me or comes to mind.. so yesterday I took myself to the refurbished Central Library that has been recently reopened on the 22nd of this month.

I was quite pleased to see what I saw. It was my first time to visit this enormous historic building and it has been a great journey to walk around the library and circulate smoothly along its curvy form. What made the experience even more interesting is that I met a Lebanese couple by coincidence of which I happily ended up sharing a lot with them!

Anyhow, the pictures really speak for themselves so I leave you to them. And for more of my experiential snaps in this building and in other other spaces, you may check my Flickr account here

Translucent vertical circulation mmm
All ears for the live talk/performance
Children are considered in all zones of the library spaces
Interactive media everywhere and it is made easy for use by all generations

HAPPY S-P-R-I-N-G-!

Hello there,

I stumbled upon these 2 stanzas as I was reading Playing by Ear, Praying for Rain: The Poetry of James Baldwin commentary by Nikky Finney. Thereafter, I further looked into the poet's work and thought of sharing this jazzy poem as well.. so yea enjoooy!
